Fire Chief Russell Sherman- On behalf of the proud men and women in the Vallejo Fire Department, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. The City of Vallejo is located on the northern shore of the San Francisco Bay and has a population of approximately 119,000. The Vallejo Fire Department was established in 1868. Currently, the Vallejo Fire Department's work is accomplished through the activities of one hundred twenty-three (123) employees throughout seven (7) divisions. As Fire Chief, I am very proud of our newly acquired state-of-the-art fire apparatus, emergency medical and rescue and equipment. However, I feel that it is extremely important to recognize our most valued asset which is the dedicated people, sworn and civilian, who serve the citizens of the City of Vallejo.
